States of Being Traced
States of Being Traced is a collaborative, community work made with volunteer models. Each model strikes a pose while I make a whole body trace of him/her/them. I work as fast as I can. The portraits layer on top of each other, creating an accumulation of figures and a whole, abstract drawing that captures fleeting form and movement.
I perform States of Being Traced either with a group of volunteers or I perform it solo, attempting to trace myself.
States of Being Traced evolved from States of Being Live, the collaboration I was part of at the Horse and Art Research Program in 2018, and the performance time constraint of Solo Lab 5.
